Features
Edit by voice
Rewrite selected text with a spoken instruction.
How to use it
These steps use the default Hold recording mode. In Toggle mode, press the command binding once to start and again to stop.
- Select text in your app.
- Hold the Command key binding,
RIGHTALTby default. This is the setting named Command, not necessarily the macOS Command key. - Say an instruction, such as “make this shorter” or “rewrite this as a polite email”.
- Release the key. TypeAside transcribes the instruction and asks the editing model to rewrite the selection.
- Keep the selection and destination app in place until TypeAside pastes the replacement.
On macOS and Windows, TypeAside copies the selection using the system copy shortcut. On Linux it reads the Wayland primary selection. The target app must support that selection mechanism.
If no selection is available, TypeAside treats your instruction as a request to write new text. Check that the text is selected before recording.
Voice editing uses the editing endpoint and model. Snippet expansion and dictation tone cleanup are part of the dictation path, not the voice command path.
